Louvre Abu Dhabi

Louvre Abu Dhabi – the seventh wonder of the urban world and the first universal museum in the Arab World.

Louvre Abu Dhabi is an architectural masterpiece located on Saadiyat Island. The iconic art and civilization museum houses a collection of priceless artworks and unique temporary exhibitions that span thousands of years.

Louvre Abu Dhabi is one of city’s top cultural institutions located in the heart of the Saadiyat Cultural District. Encapsulating the region’s culture and heritage, this must-see museum displays works of historical and cultural significance spanning from ancient times to present day. The museum is considered an architectural wonder, designed by the Pritzker-prize winning architect Jean Nouvel. Covering 9,200 square metres of gallery space, it displays works from notable museums from around the world, including the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
  • Shedding light on humanity

This pioneering project goes beyond individual cultures to combine French design with Arabic heritage. Intended as a bridge between East and West, the galleries display Islamic, Christian, Jewish and Buddhist artefacts to highlight these universally shared values. This juxtaposition of different civilisations within the same spaces illustrates a shared human experience that transcends geography, nationality and history.
  • Award-winning architecture

The centrepiece of Pritzker award-winning architect Jean Nouvel’s design is the silvery iconic dome, which floats above the entire museum. Inspired by Arabic geometric shapes and comprising 7,850 stars, the impressive structure was designed to represent light passing through palm tree leaves and creating a “rain of light”. The contrasting lower white buildings are reminiscent of a medina (or ancient quarter) of traditional Arabic cities.
  • Fouquet’s at Louvre Abu Dhabi

Parisian brasserie Fouquet’s will debut its first Abu Dhabi location at the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi offering visitors the perfect place to enjoy a meal after a visit to the museum. The menu, designed by Michelin star Chef Pierre Gagnaire, will merge fusion fare with French cuisine as well as featuring his signature dishes.
  • Art Lounge – Saadiyat’s best-kept secret

Tucked beneath the magnificent Jean Nouvel-designed floating cupola, this open-air terrace and bar at the Louvre Abu Dhabi offers some of the best sunset views in Abu Dhabi. Visitors can contemplate the works they have seen accompanied by a menu made up of international tapas and light bites, as well as an extensive drinks menu.
