Manarat Al Saadiyat is Abu Dhabi’s hub of cultural happenings showcasing interactive exhibitions, cultural displays, community events, and film screenings throughout the year.
Manarat Al Saadiyat – a place of enlightenment
Situated in the heart of Saadiyat Cultural District, Manarat Al Saadiyat has been a haven for the city’s major cultural events since it opened its doors in 2009. With a name that translates as “a place of enlightenment”, this renowned arts institution hosts a year-round calendar of temporary exhibitions, live performances and community events including theatre workshops, yoga classes, art classes, comedy nights, film screenings and educational activities. The site also features an outdoor events terrace, café and restaurant, three galleries, photography studio and art studio, and an auditorium that seats up to 250 people. The art galleries showcase local and international exhibitions where visitors can learn about the UAE’s rich heritage and its vision for the future.
Visitors can also admire the Norman Foster-designed UAE Pavilion. One of the city’s most iconic buildings, this huge golden copper-coloured building represents the shape of sand dunes in the desert. Originally unveiled at the 2010 World Exhibition in Shanghai, it was then transported piece by piece back to Abu Dhabi and rebuilt on Saadiyat Island.
